GLASS PRODUCTION
The glass production industry is the single largest use of heavy soda ash. The bulk density of TCE’s soda ash ensures uniform blending of the furnace batch and the chloride helps to prolong furnace life. Soda ash also acts as a fluxing agent in the furnace and plays a vital role in reducing the furnace temperature necessary to melt the silica used, reduced the amount of energy required to produce glass.

PHARMACEUTICALS

FLUE GAS TREATMENT
Our sodium bicarbonate is used increasingly in the treatment of flue gases. The flue gases are acidic and need to be neutralised with an alkaline product. Our Briskarb® and Briskarb® Premium have been shown to be more efficient and cost effective than alternative alkaline reagents in the treatment of flue gas.
DETERGENT
We provide detergent manufacturers with the light soda ash and sodium sesquicarbonate they need to formulate laundry products. From helping to remove stubborn stains from clothes to reducing the deposit of dirt during washing and rinsing – our products have been keeping clothing fresh for years.
CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
All of TCE and British Salt’s products are versatile chemicals in their own right and are used in many chemical manufacturing processes.
TEXTILES & TANNING
Salt is used as a fixing agent, process chemical and preservative chemical in the production of materials, textiles and leather.
