OUR
PLANET

Our goal? To be net zero by 2030. We’re already making great strides: since 2000 we have reduced the carbon intensity of our manufacturing by 50% but there’s always more to be done. When it comes to sustainable manufacturing, TCE is leading the way with tangible action.

Hydrogen

The next step on our journey to building a low carbon future? Working towards meeting our 2030 Net Zero carbon emissions goal by looking at ways to use hydrogen as an alternative fuel.

Alternative fuel

Dedication to our carbon reduction journey means investing in renewable sources.

Carbon capture & utilisation

With the opening of the UK’s first industrial scale carbon capture and utilisation plant in 2022, we now capture and use 40,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions – the equivalent of taking 20,000 cars off the road – each year!

ECOKARB®

We take carbon dioxide we capture and use it to make our net zero carbon emission sodium bicarbonate. Manufactured to meet the highest standards, we export Ecokarb® to over 80 countries around the globe. A critical raw material for the pharmaceutical industry and other premium applications, it is used in life-changing treatments like haemodialysis, supporting people living with kidney disease.

INVESTED IN SUSTAINABILITY

Here at TCE looking after the planet is everyone’s job. Sustainability culture runs deep within our culture, and it’s our ambition to remain at the forefront of decarbonisation in manufacturing. So, we continuously look for ways to reduce our impact and use the assets and land we own to help create a better environment.

Our journey to net zero

We’ve got an impressive track record and have already reduced our carbon footprint by 55%, but we’re not done yet! Find out more about the significant strides we’ve already made on our journey to Net Zero, which we have firmly in our sights for 2030.
