Here at Tata Chemicals Europe, we value the importance of supporting the communities in which we operate. Our charity partner is St Luke's Hospice, who are a palative care provider based in Winsford, Cheshire.

Every year, a team of colleagues take on a large-scale charity challenge to raise money for St Luke's to support the essential service they provide for people in our local community. In the last few years, we have completed the following charity challenges:

  • 2015: Three Peaks Challenge: a 24 hour trek up and down the highest mountains in each of Scotland, England and Wales
  • 2016: The Sandstone Trail: a 34 mile, 12 hour trek across Cheshire, with friends from St Luke’s
  • 2017: The 8 Peaks: taking on 8 of the highest peaks in the Lake District
  • 2018: Cheshire Ring Challenge. In Summer 2018, we plan to take on the Cheshire Ring, a 150km course of waterway reaching from Manchester city centre, stretching south to Kidsgrove and east to Preston Brook. We will walk, run, cycle, boat and maybe even swim the scenic route through the Cheshire countryside to celebrate 150 years of the Tata Group, and of course to raise as much money as we can for St Luke's Hospice.

Since 2015, these events alone have raised around £20,000 and had an immeasurable positive impact on employee engagement and our local reputation.

Throughout the period we have organised many other charity events, again in support of St Luke’s, accessible to a wide variety of people, and have sought to get members of the public involved in various ways.

Our ‘Rowathon’ and ‘Cyclethon’ events both raised significant funds for St Luke’s and were very public events demonstrating our commitment to our local communities, while our Car Boot Sales have brought many local people from our community together at our premises. Added to this Christmas Jumper days, cake sales and Christmas auctions, we have been having a lot of fun in this particular area.
