Proud of our West Cheshire roots, we’re always looking for ways to support long-lasting change in the communities that matter to us.
For us, our charity work isn’t simply a tick box exercise. We don’t do it to look good, we do it because we care. These are causes that are important to our team and close to the hearts of those in our local communities.
Our Community Fund aims to champion local communities, supporting them to deliver long-lasting change while bringing value to our people and our business.
Our Winnington works was built in 1873 and a year later produced the first soda ash. Today, well over a century later, we are a team of 370 and growing. It all started with Brunner and Mond, and the rest, as they say, is history!
John Brunner and Ludwig Mond are considered the founding fathers of chemical manufacturing in Cheshire. The pair grew the business, and in 1926 it became a founder member of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI).
In 2005 Brunner Mond UK Limited and its Kenyan subsidiary the Magadi Soda Company were acquired by Tata Chemicals Limited and rebranded as Tata Chemicals Europe (TCE) and Tata Chemicals Magadi.
The acquisition of British Salt in 2011 led to a huge diversification for TCE that has allowed us to develop into further sectors and innovate into other industries.
Here at TCE we like to say that we’re a family business. Not only is our culture one of familiarity but we have and still do employ multiple generations of the same family. We work hard to provide our local communities with a wealth of employment opportunities.
A big part of our legacy is the work that we’ve engaged in within our communities. From charity work to collaborating with local schools to drive STEM opportunities forward.
